Most businesses I meet are not short of strategy. They are short of the systems to carry it, and short of clear sight in the people running them. I spent twenty years on the first half of that problem before I started working on the second.

From 1996 it was claims and negotiation — seven years across a table from people certain they were right, with money on it, alongside field sales holding the relationships that brought the work in. Then operations: running them at United Assistance, taking the company through ISO 9001 accreditation and holding it there, and carrying responsibility for its FCA compliance. My first formal leadership training came in the same period, the Paul J. Meyer programme with Leadership Management International. Business solutions, production management and customer engagement followed across several industries, each teaching the same lesson from a different angle.

In 2020 I joined Alison Goodwin at Conscious Consultants, a practice she had already spent the better part of two decades building. Since then, the work has taken me across Europe and the United States, into businesses of very different shapes and sizes.

It runs on two tracks. I am Strengthscope® certified, and the assessment gives you a straight read on how someone operates — where their strengths sit, where they tip over into overuse, and what that is quietly costing them. But an assessment on its own changes nothing. So alongside it I build the operating system around the person: the processes, standards and rhythms that hold the insight in place once I have left the room.

I also co-founded The Syndicate Global with Alison, an invitation-only network of founders, investors and family offices, with Abigail Horne joining us as a partner in 2026. Every room is curated deliberately, because trust outperforms strategy — and strategy only works where people are willing to be honest.
